BOLIVIA VOLUNTEERS

MAKING A DIFFERENCE - NOT A PROFIT

A small selection of what previous volunteers have to say about their time spent with us

I was no way sure I'd done the right thing offering to volunteer when I arrived at the airport. The info-pack told me the easiest way to get through passports, visas and baggage reclaim, but just like you said... the place was busy, noisy, and hot (VERY HOT.) Like I told you, I just wanted to go home!
But that changed when I met Claudia who was waiting for me in arrivals. She was great. No messing about, straight through the crowds...No we've already got a taxi...No we don't want to buy a newspaper...Yes, we'll have a coke, how much is it ? Too much, we're not paying that..here that's all you're getting...No we can't give you a lift to town..GO AWAY ... and straight to the waiting taxi and away. I really don't know what I would have done without her, not just at the airport, but for the whole of my stay. She was 'on-call' whenever I needed to ask something, or get some info. (Looking back, I did ask some pretty silly questions, that I could've worked out for myself, but she didn't comment - just gave me the answer)
Say hola y besos to mamita Andria for me. I miss her cooking, and the view of El Cristo from my bedroom window. Her house is just beautiful. So tidy and clean (if you ignore my room that is....Lo siento mamita!)    Sarah. Chicago IL.

Volunteering for past four years now, each Spring, with a different firm each time, and Bolivia Volunteers are way above the rest, as I see it. Totally professional in the way they run things, and they don't rip you off. They make a difference, not a profit for sure. Loads of extra trips arranged whilst you're there as well. Overnighter at Cabaņa de la Torre, awesome - Week-end trip to Chapare, better.
Orphanage Project helped me see life differently, and not complain so much. Bus is late, raining, new sneakers gotten wet. Big deal! Try not eating anything decent for a few days, then you can say life's a downer.
Volunteering changes you. Gives you a purpose, and a direction. Makes you think. Worth a try. Be glad you did.
Simon. Pittsburgh. PA.

Can't thank Andres, Clau, and the team at Bolivia Volunteers enough for all their hard work. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they know Cochabamba inside out. So thoughtful and helpful. Bit of a tooth-ache whilst I was there, and they sorted out a dentist, no worries. Got seen immediately, and better than some I've been to here! Thanks BollyVolls!!    Kyle. New York.

I spent 3 months living with Angelica and her incredible family, who immediately accepted me as a friend, daughter and sister. I was working at the prison orphanage where kids of inmates are cared for rather than walking the streets, which was always fulfilling, but tough on the emotions, and Angelica was always there at the end of the day, food on the table; a piping hot mug of English tea; a kind word and a laugh.

I was working with children from the ages of 2-9, and we played; sang, danced; ran around; laughed (and cried) together, and I just hope that in some small way I brightened up their lives whilst I was with them.

During my stay, Angelica's, family and friends were my help and support whenever I needed them. Without them things would have not been so much fun, exciting, or comfortable.    Andrea. Manchester, England.
