The programme offers you a chance to use your experience and skills to assist local professionals, enthusiasts and teaching staff in schools and colleges, as they work with children and adults in a wide variety of settings, promoting awareness and support for local cultures and the performing arts.
CULTURE
Working side-by-side with local artists, musicians, actors, authors, art gallery and museum curators, you will have the chance to promote an understanding and an appreciation of the cultures, customs and traditions of the city.
Project centres are located throughout the city, and the tasks involved include developing museum exhibits; acting as tour or museum guides and translators; helping local collectors and staff to find artifacts and works of art for the museums and galleries dedicated to indigenous art and history; developing and promoting art and music festivals.
PERFORMING ARTS
If you can play a musical instrument, sing, dance, write poetry, or have experience in the creative arts, and would like to pass on your skills to children and adults alike, the project gives you the opportunity to not only encourage and nurture their talents, but also boost their self-esteem and confidence. You will also help them to develop their interest and skills through play and creative education, and in the case of the children, help them achieve better results in their classroom studies.
Sessions are held throughout the day, and there is often the possibility
of some evening and week-end work. All necessary instruments and support
materials will be provided.
